My top sources: Social media edition

1) InstagramTrashisfortossers

Lauren Singer (who I talked about in last weeks post) is a favourite source on Instagram. She posts about various methods to be sustainable, from reducing food waste to fashion. Her account is very useful to see all the new innovative ways to be sustainable in everyday life and also keep up with any upcoming events such as beach cleanups.

2) YouTubeNational Geographic

National Geographic is one of my favourite sources for knowledge about the environement. Their world class scientists and journalists create many videos to inform about the many environmental problems and visualise them to make it easy to understand.

For example, this video on Air pollution.

2) Twitter5Gyres

5Gyres is an organisation working to combat the crisis of plastic pollution, particularly in gyres (hence the name). Plastic gets trapped in the currents and take several years to get out unless it gets eaten by sea life. They tweet any initiatives by people or businesses that support their mission such as the image below. Their account is useful to keep up to date with information on plastic and how to help.

4) Facebook Climate Stories Project

Climate Change is often only discussed in terms of science and politics however we never actually focus not only on the effects on the planet but the affect its having on our lives. Everyday people are experiencing the effect of climate change firsthand. Climate change stories have provided a place for people to talk about their personal experiences. They post many articles regarding this. For example this heartbreaking article. It is a useful source to stay updated on the specific impacts it is causing.

Make sure you check out these accounts to always keep up to date on all things environment!
